Workflow

We address every aspect of your products, your challenges and your opportunities

The wind power industry is large and complex as regards technology, production, supply chain, assembly, transport, installation, maintenance and service. That is why we have established a workflow whereby we enter into a close and flexible working relation with the customer so as to focus on both the big picture and the individual sub-processes from a holistic perspective.

Six well-defined processes that assure our customers’ success
As a Tier 1 supplier and strategic partner for some of the leading operators in the global wind power industry, we work on the basis of an overarching ambition to make a proactive contribution to the continued success of our customers.

We achieve this primarily by working closely with our customers’ in-house teams and experts to create new solutions, concepts, products and components. Typically in areas that lie outside our customers’ core business. Always at particularly competitive prices. And consistently with a level of empathy and flexibility which, over the years, has given us the reputation of being extremely easy to work with.

The results of our contribution can be measured on one or more of the following parameters:

  • Greater agility in R&D projects (incl. rapid prototyping)
  • Reduced development costs
  • Reduced material costs
  • Reduced production costs
  • Reduced assembly costs
  • Reduced transport costs
  • Reduced installation costs
  • Reduced service costs
  • Reduced maintenance costs
  • Simplified supply chain and logistics
  • Improved and simplified assembly
  • Improved protection and safety
  • Increased product lifetime
  • Improved strength in critical parts
  • Reduced weight
  • Improved Annual Energy Production (AEP)

Financial dividends
The numerous benefits of bringing an industrial and international development company like PolyTech into your ongoing development work can be summarised in two general dividends:

  1. Reduced Cost of Energy (CoE)
  2. Improved competitiveness

At the same time, experience indicates that the working relationship and the resultant agility in your development projects will have a positive effect on both internal innovation capacity and motivation. As such, engineers, purchasers and production technicians also notice that the working relationship with PolyTech can raise their own roles and internal success to a whole new level.

PolyTech on demand
You can draw on PolyTech’s expertise to precisely the extent and at precisely the level that is relevant to the individual assignment or challenge you are facing.

If you simply need to use us as a sounding board in the development phase, as an accredited test centre or as a supplier, you are always more than welcome to contact us.

If you are a new customer, we start by familiarising ourselves thoroughly with your market, your products, your needs and your biggest challenges. We then screen the opportunities for creating new value in products, production, assembly, transport, service, etc.

We always view your business from a holistic perspective, without locking into old routines and specific materials. Quite the opposite, in fact. We devote the necessary resources to remaining constantly at the cutting edge with regard to the latest industrial trends.

In phase 2, we ramp up our involvement in your R&D work. It is here that we bring into play our expert material knowledge and our broad spectrum of production skills. At the same time, we enter into close dialogue with all relevant teams and departments in your organisation, with the objective of specifying needs, wishes, requirements and KPIs for the new development project.

In order to ensure a versatile working relationship, we have digitalised as many steps as possible in the workflow. Our structured use of video conferencing, cloud-based document platforms, SAP integration and the like ensures that we never lose momentum – or sight of the big picture. The high degree of digitalisation also helps keep costs down and assures an efficient hand-over.

In phase 3, we progress from abstract ideas and visions to tangible CAD drawings, calculations and designs. Briefly put, it is here that the real magic begins to unfurl – with clear and unswerving focus on maintaining a robust balance between price and quality by basing our work on the five fundamental principles for Design for Manufacturing (DFM):

  1. Process
  2. Design
  3. Material
  4. Environment
  5. Testing

We also practice the principles of Design for Integration (DFI), where, through adopting a holistic approach to product development, we make sure that logistics, assembly and service are all optimised – in the long term, too.

It is in phase 4 that we carry out the initial material tests and process trials. All tests are performed in-house in our DANAK- accredited test laboratory staffed by highly specialised employees. These peerless test facilities allow us to perform both mechanical tests and a wide range of environmental tests using a variety of parameters.

With our own tool manufacturing facilities and a particularly flexible production apparatus, we at PolyTech have the capacity to perform rapid prototyping. The path from initial idea and design to a physical, functional and testable product is therefore extremely short.

Once a prototype has passed the initial tests in our accredited test centre, we integrate it on site. We then carry out the necessary field tests to make sure that the product performs as expected - in real life.

It is also in phase 5 that we collect approvals in relation to the applicable standards and requirements, and we obtain all the relevant certifications.

In phase 6, our production engineers specify a customised process design with integrated planning and logistics, and with the highest possible degree of digital integration between the customer and PolyTech.

Here, too, our holistic approach plays a conspicuous role. We thus ensure that each and every link of the process is fine-tuned, and that we optimise every phase all the way to assembly, transport, installation, service and maintenance.

The actual production takes place at our state-of-the-art and highly automated production facilities in Denmark and China. If the solution demands it, we also design and manufacture customised tools and machinery in-house.

As the final stage of the workflow, we set up a versatile and efficient supply chain, without geographical restrictions. To this end, we prepare detailed work instructions and make sure that the staff at the customer’s factories know how to use the various items. We likewise instruct the relevant teams at the customer’s facilities (if necessary) in how to install, service and maintain the products.

We are a truly global supplier with a delivery organisation that encompasses PolyTech’s own warehouse and logistics facilities in Colorado, USA.
